Local stocks extend losses As on : 05-Aug-26  12:30

The key equity barometers traded with slight losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24678-24562. Nifty Realty, Nifty Auto and Nifty PSU Bank shares rose, while Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Healthcare Index shares retreated. NIFTY eased by 0.20% in last session and edged higher by 0.76% over last one-week. At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, posted modest gains of 170.40 points or 0.22% to 78,599.35. The Nifty 50 index posted modest losses of 38.50 points or 0.16% to 24,576.40. The broader market underperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index added 0.37% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index moved higher by 0.70%. The market breadth was healthy. On the BSE, 2810 shares gained and 1886 shares declined. A total of 264 shares were unchanged. Nifty Realty index rose 1.78% to 907. The index has eased by 1.74% in last one month and posted modest losses of 2.29% over last one year. Godrej Propert., adding 4.29%, led the gainers followed by Prestige Estates, up 4% and DLF, gaining 2.53%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today. Nifty Auto index gained 1.12% to 29366. The index has risen 6.17% in last one month and posted strong gains of 22.09% over last one year. Bosch, advancing 5.43%, led the gainers followed by Samvardh. Mothe., edging up 2.80% and Exide Inds., inching higher 2.79%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 13 are reporting gains today. Nifty Private Bank index edged lower by 0.63%. The index has posted modest losses of 1.72% in last one month and inched up 3.36% over last one year. Federal Bank, easing 1.30%, led the loosers followed by IDFC First Bank, down 0.67% and HDFC Bank, slipping 0.41%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting loss today. Asian markets soared on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai composite is significantly higher by 1.34%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is up 0.41%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply higher by 3.66%. In Europe, German DAX inched higher 0.33%, UK’s FTSE 100 moved up 0.20% and French CAC ticked up 0.61%. In Commodities, MCX Gold advanced 1.39% to trade at Rs 1,42,900 per 10 grams. MCX Crude oil moved down 0.76% to trade at Rs 7,218 per barrel.
